Linux Administrator

Location: Corporate Office – Scottsdale, Arizona

The company delivers a full suite of high security, end-to-end electronic payment products and services. Equinox is currently looking for a Linux Administrator located in Scottsdale, Arizona.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Linux system administrators maintain the computing systems in our environment by building systems, performing upgrades of software, maintaining hardware, addressing questions about technical problems, and improving efficiency of system functions.  Work is performed during business hours with periodic after-hours / weekend system updates.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring fault tolerance of services and databases via automation
  • Deploy services in production environment
  • Improving monitoring systems and dealing with incidents
  • Reviewing, proposing and implementing security controls
  • Proactively review and interpret alerts and provide timely response, analysis of the incident
  • Work with development teams to resolve issues related to their systems
  • Test and develop technologies to improve or replace services
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple assigned tasks and execute parallel tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • You must document your systems and cross train teammates to assist in system support needs.
  • Support mission critical systems 24x7x365 systems, including on-call, after-hours, and weekend support.
  • Experience setting up a rsyslog server and log monitoring
  • Experience setting up a configuration system for Linux, preferably CFEngine

  • Ubuntu Linux: installation, hardening, operation, maintenance
  • Standard UNIX environment tools: vi, tmux, ssh
  • Bash scripting
  • PostgresSQL databases
  • Trouble-shooting Java based applications
  • Tomcat servers
  • Version control: git, cvs
  • Configuration management
  • Network trouble-shooting tools: tcpdump/wireshark, netstat, netcat
  • System/application trouble-shooting tools: strace, openssl

  • Attention to detail in documenting work
  • Experience working with Linux or other Unix
  • Knowledge of Unix system primitives such as syscalls, IPC, cgroups and namespaces
